Background

Oral healthcare in Malaysia is developed rapidly with the increasing demand for oral health services and extensive development of healthcare facilities throughout the country. The commitment given by the government to improve health and enhance the quality of life has led to the need for the oral health professionals.

The Faculty of Dentistry (FPg), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) is established to fulfill the demand of the community. Our graduates are expected to play an active role in promoting health with special reference to the oral health needs of the country.

The proposal for the establishment of the Faculty of Dentistry, USIM was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education on 15th June, 2006. It is the eighth faculty to be recognized in USIM and among dental faculty in Malaysia. The pioneer group of 29 students has started their academic year since July 2007 and graduated in September 2012. Our students are selected from Tamhidi (matriculation) course at USIM.

The Faculty of Dentistry is about 10 km from Kuala Lumpur City Centre and located on 15th – 17th floor of Block B, MPAJ Tower, Pandan Indah together with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK). All three levels are dedicated to accommodate facilities that are specific to the Bachelor Dental Surgery programme. Our outpatient and also specialist clinics are on 16th and 17th floor.
